SEJ wins international award for improving knowledge
The Society of Environmental Journalists has won the 2010 Gulbenkian International Prize for “thoughts or actions [that] make a decisive contribution to and have significant impact on understanding, defending or fostering the universal values of the human condition.”
In announcing the award, the judges cited SEJ’s efforts to provide journalists “a high degree of understanding of multifaceted environmental issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss and increasing pressure on essential water resources.” SEJ will share the 100,000-euro prize with the Institute for Alpine Environment, a research center.
