War Photographers’ Retreat to honor Tim Hetherington

Applications are now being accepted for the upcoming War Photographers’ Retreat, which is being held in the honor of the late Tim Hetherington. Hetherington was a journalist and filmmaker (“Restrepo”) killed in Libya last April. David Emerson of the non-profit organization Black Lotus Yoga is hosting the event, which will take place Aug. 25-28 in Cambridge, Mass.

The retreat offers four free days of yoga, massage and acupuncture under the care of certified practitioners. Photojournalists whose work has taken them to conflict and war zones are encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply is July 15. Then a total of ten participants, whose names will be confidential, will be chosen and notified on July 20.

Black Lotus Yoga is also asking for small donations to help fund a group dinner and the limited printing of a poetry anthology being produced for the event.
