The Association of Alternative Newsweeklies seeks to support news organizations that produce high-quality journalism that offers a valuable alternative to the mainstream media in their area.

AAN works to promote journalistic excellence amongst its members; facilitate access to information to enable member publications to raise their level of professional and business performance; support the marketing and advertising efforts of member publications; increase awareness of the alternative media and; advocate the interests of the industry.
