Founded in 1909 as Sigma Delta Chi, the Society of Professional Journalists is the nations largest and most broad-based journalism organization. SPJ is a not-for-profit organization made up of more than 10,000 members dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism; stimulating high standards of ethical behavior; and perpetuating a free press.
